Adjustable swirl diffuser DRP

Ceiling swirl diffusers are used in air conditioning, ventilation and heating systems. They create a swirling air supply for good mixing with the room air. The air stream leaving the diffuser achieves high induction ratios, so the air velocity drops quickly and the temperature difference between the supply air and the room air is rapidly equalised. Ceiling swirl diffusers are used for high airflows with a large temperature difference between room air and supply air, from -10°C to +15°C. The result is mixing of the air streams in the comfort zones, with good distribution of air jets throughout the room and only slight turbulence in the occupied zone. These diffusers are used in rooms with ceiling heights of 4 metres and above.

The body is made of aluminium and the inner blade of galvanised steel. How does adjustment work? Inside the diffuser there are 2 round plates with blades bent at 45°; one is fixed, the other is rotatable (adjustable). Changing the position of the adjustable plate increases or decreases the free area. In cooling mode the free area should be larger so that the air is distributed horizontally; in heating mode the free area should be reduced to switch the airflow to a vertical discharge (warm air is lighter and needs to be pushed down as far as possible; reducing the free area increases the air velocity and the throw). A servo actuator can be fitted for automatic blade adjustment.
